Welcome to our school library and computer lab! I am so excited to spend time with your children and help them become enthusiastic readers, researchers and to further develop their love of books.
Students will have Library class one day a week. Kindergarten through second grade will have classes for 30 minutes, while third through sixth grade will have classes for 45 minutes a week. One day a week each grade will have computer/technology classes for the same time frame. During library classes your child will be able and encouraged to check out books to read. Kindergarten students will be allowed to checkout 1 book during checkout time, all other grade levels may checkout 2 books. Books must be returned before new books can be checked out. I am hopeful your child(ren) will be excited to bring their books home and share them with you! These are a great way read together to earn minutes towards your child’s classroom reading minutes! I will be encouraging our younger students to use the five-finger rule when looking for books to check out. Please encourage your child to enjoy and take care of your library materials and return them for more. Our school does not charge overdue fines; however, you will have to pay to replace a book if it is ruined for some reason.
On technology days students will bring their computers from class to the computer lab. We will have daily lessons and units that we will be following to help the students become more proficient in computer skills. Students will be monitored to be sure that they’re only on the sites that they have permission to be on.
