Student Handbook
Partnering for SUCCESS.
We appreciate your continued partnership in supporting our students’ success. One of the best ways we can work together is by ensuring everyone is informed on important expectations and resources.
Please take a few moments to read through our PARENT & STUDENT HANDBOOK and familiarize yourself with school policy, academic expectations, safety procedures, communication guidelines and more. By reviewing the handbook with your child, you help reinforce a shared understanding that sets the foundation for a positive and productive school year.
Please take the opportunity to review the updates made to the parent and student handbook for the 2026-2027 school year.

Per page 17 in the CCSD #1 elementary parent and student handbook, students must have a signed Digital Citizenship Agreement on file before using the internet at school. School computers are provided for educational purposes only and should not be used for recreational browsing, unauthorized AI tools, chat rooms, or other non-educational websites. Students may be held financially responsible for any damage caused to computer equipment. Violations of computer use guidelines may result in disciplinary action and, when necessary, legal consequences.

Per pages 17 - 18 in the CCSD #1 elementary parent and student handbook, Artificial Intelligence (AI) includes tools that can generate text, solve problems, create images, and assist with learning. CCSD #1 recognizes AI as a valuable educational resource when used responsibly, while also acknowledging concerns such as misinformation, privacy, and academic honesty.
District staff will teach students how to use AI safely and ethically, if they use it at all. Students may only use AI for school assignments when they have specific permission from their teacher and must clearly disclose how AI was used. Misuse of AI will be addressed according to district discipline policies.
Parents are encouraged to support responsible technology use at home by discussing honesty, integrity, and appropriate AI use with their children. Working together, families and schools can help students use AI as a tool for learning while maintaining strong academic and ethical standards.
